Hair Regrowth
Does Laser Hair Regrowth Work? Cost & Monthly Timeline
Laser hair regrowth is slow, undramatic and — for the right person — worthwhile. Here's what really happens month by month, what it costs, and how to know if you're a candidate.
Search for hair loss treatments and you'll find two kinds of claim: miracle regrowth in weeks, or "nothing works." The truth about laser hair regrowth sits in between, and it's less exciting than either. It's slow, it's undramatic, and for the right person it's worth doing.
Here's what actually happens, month by month.
Does laser hair regrowth work?
For some people, yes — within limits. Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) uses red and near-infrared light to stimulate cell activity and blood flow around the hair follicle. The aim is to keep struggling follicles productive for longer.
That tells you who it suits:
| It can help if… | It won't help if… |
|---|---|
| Your hair is thinning but follicles are still active | The area is completely smooth and bald |
| Loss is early to moderate | You expect new hair in a few weeks |
| You can commit to a consistent course | You want a one-off treatment |
If follicles are no longer active, there's nothing for the light to support. An honest assessment will tell you that before you spend anything.
What to expect, month by month
Hair grows in cycles, so progress is slow by nature. This is a typical pattern, not a promise — results vary.
| When | What you may notice |
|---|---|
| Weeks 1–4 | Nothing visible. Sessions feel easy; this is the patience phase. |
| Months 1–2 | Often less hair in the shower drain or on your pillow. |
| Months 3–4 | Existing hair can look and feel fuller; short new hairs may appear. |
| Months 5–6 | The clearest point to judge: compare photos with month zero. |
| After 6 months | Maintenance sessions help hold the improvement. |
Take photos on day one. Same spot, same light, hair parted the same way. Change this gradual is almost impossible to judge from memory.
How much does laser hair regrowth cost?
Hair regrowth at SOI Clinic: Laser Hair Regrowth Therapy (LLLT) — ₱8,500 per session · Grandio Red Light Hair Regrowth — ₱6,000 per session · 30–45 minutes · No downtime. See treatment details
Because results come from consistency, the real cost is the course, not the session. Ask how many sessions are planned and what the total will be. For a full comparison with minoxidil, medication, PRP and transplants, see our hair loss treatment cost guide.
"Laser hair transplant cost" — clearing up the confusion
People often search for a "laser hair transplant." There isn't really such a thing, and the two are very different:
| Laser hair regrowth | Hair transplant | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Non-surgical light therapy | Surgery that relocates follicles |
| Best for | Early to moderate thinning | Advanced loss with donor hair |
| Downtime | None | Recovery period |
| Cost pattern | Per session, as a course | Large one-off cost |
| Offered at SOI | Yes | No |
If you already have smooth bald areas, a transplant consultation with a surgeon is the more honest route, and we'll tell you so.
Laser or red light: which one?
SOI offers two light-based options. Laser Hair Regrowth Therapy is the LLLT option for early to moderate thinning, and Grandio Hair Regrowth is a red light option at a lower price per session. Our laser vs red light comparison explains how to choose.
Five things that decide whether it works for you
- The cause. Stress shedding, hormonal thinning and pattern hair loss behave differently. Our guide to hair loss causes is a good start.
- How early you begin. Follicles respond better before they shut down.
- Consistency. Skipped sessions are the most common reason for disappointing results.
- Scalp health. An active infection or irritation needs treating first.
- Your expectations. Thicker, healthier-looking hair is realistic. A teenage hairline is not.
What a session is actually like
There are no needles and nothing to recover from. You sit comfortably while the device delivers light across the scalp for around 30–45 minutes. Most people describe it as mild warmth, or nothing at all. You can go straight back to work, and you can wash and style your hair as usual.
That ease is the point: a treatment that needs months of consistency has to be easy to keep up.
Can I combine it with other hair loss treatments?
Often, yes. Many people use clinic light therapy alongside options a doctor has recommended, such as topical or prescription treatments, because they work in different ways. Tell your specialist what you're already using, and don't start or stop medication without medical advice.
Good habits help too: enough protein and iron in your diet, gentle styling, and managing the stress and sleep problems that often sit behind sudden shedding.
Laser hair regrowth is worth it if your hair is thinning, not gone, and you can commit to several months. It's not for completely bald areas, active scalp infection, or anyone taking photosensitising medication without advice — and it won't deliver fast results. Results vary, and if a transplant or a doctor's assessment is the better route, we'll say so.
